About The Ratcliffes

Dr. Luke Alexander Ratcliffe is an acclaimed concert pianist, organist, composer, educator, and Co-Founder of Ratcliffe Music Studio alongside his wife, Kristina Ratcliffe. An Armenian-American artist, he is recognized for his distinctive interpretive voice, artistic versatility, and commitment to sharing music through performance, teaching, and collaboration.

Luke has performed throughout the United States and internationally, appearing at distinguished venues including Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, Strathmore Music Center, and The Banff Centre for Arts. His repertoire spans the core classical canon, contemporary music, and overlooked masterworks, with a particular dedication to championing underrepresented composers and new artistic voices. In addition to performing, he is actively engaged in lecturing, composing, transcribing, and interdisciplinary artistic projects.

Dr. Ratcliffe is an alumnus of The Juilliard School, George Mason University, and the Cleveland Institute of Music. He earned his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance, summa cum laude, with a concentration in Piano Pedagogy under the mentorship of renowned pianist Antonio Pompa-Baldi. He was also awarded the Arthur Loesser Memorial Prize in Piano and served as a Judson Artist-in-Residence.

Currently, Dr. Ratcliffe teaches individual and group piano lessons, presents master classes and lectures, and collaborates with musicians throughout the Washington, D.C. region. He serves on the piano faculty at Levine Music, maintains a thriving private studio in Northern Virginia, and remains active as a collaborative pianist, accompanist, and chamber musician throughout the DMV area.

In addition to his teaching and performance career, Dr. Ratcliffe regularly partners with schools, universities, instrumentalists, and ensembles on solo, chamber, and orchestral projects, while continuing to advocate for contemporary music and innovative programming.

Kristina Ratcliffe is a dynamic pianist and educator whose career has taken her across India, Russia, and the United States. She began her piano studies in New Delhi under the guidance of Svetlana Radashkevich, an alumna of the Moscow Conservatory, and was quickly recognized as a young artist of exceptional promise. During the 2015–2018 seasons, Kristina was a regular guest artist at Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) Top Scorers’ Concerts in New Delhi, Lucknow, and Mumbai, having earned the highest examination scores nationwide. She also achieved a distinction in her performance diploma, becoming the youngest diploma recipient in India.

Kristina continued her studies in the United States at George Mason University, where she studied with Dr. Anna Balakerskaia, alumna of the St. Petersburg Conservatory and professor at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow. She graduated magna cum laude and was featured in major university concert series including the Honors Recital, Arts by George, and the Grand Piano Celebration. In 2019, she won first prize in the George Mason Concerto Competition and performed with the George Mason Symphony Orchestra.

Equally committed to pedagogy, Kristina has maintained a private piano studio since 2018 and has served on the faculty of the Mason Summer Music Camp. Her students regularly earn distinctions in ABRSM performance and theory examinations worldwide. Fluent in Hindi, Russian, and English, Kristina is also deeply involved in arts outreach and promotion through The Russian House Foundation, a nonprofit she co-founded to support cultural education for underserved children in India.
